Clean Water Industry

Leading the Sector

We lead the market with a range of highly advanced repair mortars and cementitious coatings which are approved. Our products are water-based, low odour and low hazard, enabling safe application even when facilities are in normal operation. They also do not affect water quality, nor do they support the growth of micro-organisms.

Perfect Solutions for Confined Spaces

With minimal environmental risks and minimal disruption during application, Our repair mortars and protective coatings can be applied in confined spaces and all equipment can be easily cleaned with water after use. Once cured, they are resistant to water under 10 bar hydrostatic pressure (100m head of water) and have excellent resistance to soft water attack – a major problem in some reservoirs.

Clean Water Applications

Our products are suitable for the repair and rehabilitation of a wide range of clean water installations, such as those below. They extend the durability of structures and enable the original design life to be achieved.

  • Aqueducts
  • Chlorination plants
  • Concrete lagoons
  • Desalination plants
  • General infrastructure
  • Machine rooms
  • Pipelines
  • Pre-load tanks
  • Pumping stations
  • Raw water reservoirs
  • Raw water treatment works
  • Sand filter beds
  • Service reservoirs
  • Spillways
  • Treatment material stores
  • Water towers

Clean Water Industry Problems and Solutions

The Problem

Failure of concrete tanking can lead to loss of water or the ingress of ground water. Either scenario can result in rapid deterioration in water quality.

The Solution

Internal repairs can be carried out using Monomix, a high build hand apply mortar.

For large scale repairs, Monomix WS applied using wet spray techniques is the ideal choice.

The entire surface can be overcoated with Cementitious Coating 851 for complete waterproofing and protection of existing concrete.

The Problem

Degradation of brick lined reservoirs and failure of pointing in structures, leading to leakage or the ingress of ground water and loss of water quality test certification.

The Solution

After reinstatement of defective pointing with Monolevel 844SP, brickwork can be fully waterproofed and damp-proofed using Cementitious Coating 851.

The Problem

Wear and tear of dams, weirs and spillways due to erosion, soft water attack and freeze/thaw attack.

The Solution

Concrete cover over exposed aggregate caused by spalling and erosion can be reinstated with Monolevel 844SP.

An overall application of Cementitious Coating 851 waterproofs the concrete and protects it from further degradation.

The Problem

The life span of pipelines is limited by erosion and the effects of soft water. Steel pipelines may be affected by internal and/or external corrosion.

The Solution

The life span of concrete and cast iron pipes is extended by the factory application of Cementitious Coating 851. It forms a hard, highly alkaline coating which is approved for use in contact with potable water.

The Problem

Leakage of aqueducts, water channels and canals due to failure of the waterproofing system. Much of the infrastructure in the UK is now over 100 years old and showing signs of deterioration. Years of exposure to the flow of acidic moorland water can cause severe erosion.

The Solution

Repairs can be easily carried out using Flexcrete’s mortars — such as Monomix and Monolevel 844SP, creating a newly sound structure.

The Problem

Manholes and inspection chambers need repairing and upgrading to improve security from unauthorised access.

The Solution

Manholes and inspection chambers can be re-lined with Cemprotec E942 — a fast setting cementitious coating for waterproofing and chemical protection. All access areas can be fully repaired and back in operation in as little as 24 hours.
