The benefits of installing a glass awning

Tempered glass roof brings efficiency in light, rain cover, compatibility with any space from balcony, garden or rooftop, even used as a tum roof or skylight roof.

Tempered glass awnings are affordable when using tempered glass panels, they are very durable, there is no warping, no rust despite a lot of sunshine and rain, rarely have to warranty and replace parts. After cleaning, it is back to its original beauty.

Using tempered glass roof is also a solution to effectively increase the space of the house. Especially with adjacent houses or townhouses with narrow area and lack of natural light. Not only helps to air-condition and create an open space, the tempered glass roof also has a compact, beautiful design and creates an impressive look for your home.

Our service about Glass Awning

Broken glass falling from a building glass awning can be extremely dangerous. So safety is critical when it comes to glass awning installations. We will source the right products for your glass awning such as toughened glass, laminated glass, tempered glass or a combination of both glass types.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), between its two or more layers of glass. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. Laminated glass is normally used when there is a possibility of human impact or where the glass could fall if shattered and also for architectural applications.

Laminated glass offers many advantages. Safety and security are the best-known of these – rather than shattering on impact, laminated glass is held together by the interlayer, reducing the safety hazard associated with shattered glass fragments, as well as, to some degree, the security risks associated with easy penetration. But the interlayer also provides a way to apply several other technologies and benefits, such as colouring, sound dampening, resistance to fire, ultraviolet filtering, and other technologies that can be embedded in or with the interlayer.

Tempered Glass

Tempered glass or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (aka: annealed glass) creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

Tempered glass is treated to be far more resistant to breakage than simple annealed glass, and to break in a more predictable way when it does break, thus providing a major safety advantage in almost all of its applications. Tempered glass is made from annealed glass treated with a thermal tempering process. A sheet of annealed glass is heated to above its “annealing point” of 600 °C; its surfaces are then rapidly cooled while the inner portion of the glass remains hotter. The different cooling rates between the surface and the inside of the glass produces different physical properties, resulting in compressive stresses in the surface balanced by tensile stresses in the body of the glass.

Tempered glass has extremely broad application. Glass portions of building facades, glass sliding doors and partitions in houses and offices, and many other products typically use tempered glass. Products made from tempered glass often also incorporate other technologies.

Laminated Tempered Glass

The principle benefits of laminated tempered glass are its strength and performance under impact. It is capable of withstanding very large loads and in the unlikely event of being broken the resulting fragments will be retained by the interlayer. When properly glazed, it will normally remain in place until replacement is convenient. The strength of laminated tempered glass makes it ideal for use as balustrades and barriers, overhead canopies, glass floors, fins and for bomb blast resistance.

The inter layers have additional benefits. Standard inter layers reduce sound transmission, particularly at the higher frequencies. High performance acoustic inter layers provide enhanced sound control. Ultra-violet light transmission is reduced by 99% and solar control (tinted) inter layers are also available.
